Forgotten Barracks...

Long time since I last explored the famous Commando Barracks.....being so intensely influenced by history, events and even an unsolved murder case, this place definitely holds down as one of Singapore's most haunted places...The whole surrounding of the place, the stretch of slope that leads up to the barracks where as you walk up the slope it reveals more and more of the majestic place, and finally reaching up to the parade square where the whole place is presented to you, it fills me more with awe than fear.....

Venture deeper inside and despite the ruins and peeling of walls and paints, you will find a place that somehow still retains its charm and beauty... signs of architecture from the past: dome-shaped walls, wooden doors and windows, greenish opaque glass windows and old switches fill the entire barracks....

The place of many stories that dates back to World War II, what an experience it is to step back into time, and try to sense and pick up the feelings and emotions associated to this place...Solitude, serene and peaceful, this place is now a forgotten landmark in our history. But it will forever be ebbed with the ghosts of the past.

Old parapets mixed with modern day window grills. A sign that someone tried to renovate the place, but whatever happened to it?

One of the many long corridors that extend on the 2nd level of Roberts Barracks. Sometimes you get the feeling that there is something at the end of the pathway...

Another long corridor...

Big hall of the army officers mess...you can still make out a wooden stage at the front of the hall...the venue for karaoke competitions and drinking contests??

Beautiful garden overlooking the perimeters of the barracks....with its trimmed grass in the past, this must have provided a sanctuary for birds and probably housed a nice scenic garden...

Vines that grow all over the barracks are common....

The barracks is run down, half filled with modern day equipments but also rich in history and olden times things....an intriguing place indeed...watch out for a night investigation soon..
